UPDATED: All Visits Now Discouraged in Response to the Coronavirus

In light of recent health concerns over the outbreak of COVID-19, the monastery is adopting certain safety measures to help prevent the spread of the virus in our community, most importantly the following:

  • Under the guidance of our ruling bishop, effectively immediately we are discouraging anyone from visiting the monastery until the crisis is over.
  • Monastics will not travel either locally or long-distance without great need.
  • We will be continuing our monastic services unabated, including our daily moleben to St. Panteleimon for the sick and the suffering.

For spiritual guidance on this issue, we recommend reading these very wise statements from our ROCOR hierarchs:

As with all of our health needs, we trust in the powerful intercession of our patron, St. Panteleimon. May he be a strong help for all of us in this trying time. O holy Great-martyr and Healer Panteleimon, pray to God for us!

God bless you Paul! Unfortunately the services are complicated to put together, and there is not one place where everything is already arranged according to our usage.

Bless! Say, is there a link to download the liturgical music and texts by which to sing along during the services? Suggestions?

Thank you; God bless you always!

Paul

Good to hear! Stay safe! Having a compromised immune system myself, I am staying in, except for a walk around the block! God Bless

Starting in mid-March, on the advice of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, the monastery stopped receiving all outside visitors in response to the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19. During the three months that have ensued, the stay-at-home orders issued by various state and local governments have affected the daily lives of almost everyone in the country.

America is a nation in crisis. We have been facing a political crisis of ever-deepening division and widespread distrust in our own leaders for many, many years now. With the emergence of the COVID-19, we are being confronted with a public health crisis of a magnitude unparalleled in living memory. This in turn has precipitated an economic crisis of massive proportions, one which will almost certainly rival (if not exceed) the Great Depression itself.

With the joy of God’s Kingdom, as we are "divinely glad, for Christ is risen" (from the Paschal Canon), I offer my Paschal greeting to all: both to those who have successfully completed the reclusion of their quarantine, celebrating now in the churches and communing of Christ’s Holy Mysteries; and also to those who yet abide in the desert of solitude and various restrictions, dedicating the better portion of their time to private prayer, spiritually beneficial reading, and interaction with loved ones. May the former and the latter both, in the words of St. John Chrysostom, "honor the day," receiving in their hearts the riches of God’s goodness!
