This beautiful, hardcover compilation is composed of Thirty Akathist Hymns to many of the most beloved Saints of the Orthodox Church, male and female, from east and west, both ancient and more recent. Many are being published for the first time and have been kindly contributed by various contemporary authors and translators, including Reader Isaac Lambertsen. Each Hymn is preceded by an icon and brief Life of the Saint meant to enhance one's experience of prayer and devotion. Since the style of the Akathist itself presents many elements of the Saint's sanctified personality and spiritual exploits, each is like a vivid icon or mosaic, in word, praise, and prayer. We have also included instructions on how to pray an Akathist for personal devotion. This book of prayer is especially dedicated to all missionary priests and their devoted flocks, who labor and sacrifice to plant the seeds of the true faith throughout North America and other English-speaking regions. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be contributed to the building fund of Three Hierarchs Orthodox Church in Wenatchee, WA. This Book of Akathists has been graciously blessed for use in personal devotion and prayer by His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEPH Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America
