A handmade (cross-stitched) reproduction of the icon of the Mother of God of Smolensk. It depicts the Virgin holding the infant Christ close to her heart. This revered icon is renowned for its ancient origins and miraculous history, believed to have been created in the 11th century. It is cherished by Orthodox Christians for its powerful intercession and protective blessings, symbolizing maternal love, compassion, and divine grace.
This work required approximately 200 hours of needlepoint handwork using these materials: 30+ different colored threads on embroidery canvas cloth.
