The Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon is the patron of our monastic community. After a life of self-sacrifice as an unmercenary physician and miraculous healer, he suffered torture and beheading for Our Lord at the hands of the Roman authorities at the beginning of the 4th century. St. Panteleimon has not ceased to intercede for those who pray to him, as numberless Christians even in our own time can testify. Here St. Panteleimon is depicted in the traditional manner, wearing the red robe of martyrdom and holding a box of medicines and a spoon for dispensing them.
