Tonsure of Schemamonk Ignaty

This past Great Lent, during the week of the Veneration of the Cross, Metropolitan Jonah (Paffhausen) visited the monastery to tonsure Monk Ignaty to the Great Schema. The service was performed on the eve of the Feast of the Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. Schemamonk Ignaty retained his name, but was given the new patron St. Ignatius the God-Bearer of Antioch. He joins Schemamonk Anthony as the second monk in our brotherhood to receive the Great Schema. Please keep him in your prayers, that he might fulfill this high calling to the glory of God and the salvation of his soul.
