Construction Update - July 2026
Although the brotherhood has already been using the new church for half a year, work continues to bring it fully to completion. Since our last newsletter, the cupolas and crosses have been successfully placed atop the domes of the church as well as the belltower, finally bringing the exterior of the church to completion. Meanwhile work continues within the church as well: the sacristy cabinetry and countertops have been fully installed, and the staircase and railings for the loft in the nave are nearly finished and ready to be installed as well. Plans for both the permanent stone Holy Table as well as the wooden iconostasis are underway, and we hope to begin actual work on both of these projects soon. Finally, our iconographers were recently on site to begin the design phase of frescoing of the church, with the first project scheduled to be the Pantocrator icon in the dome.
At the same time, we are nearly ready to begin construction on our new dormitory building, which will be built on the site of the old trapeza. This extremely necessary building will not only allow us to begin gradually increasing the size of our brotherhood for the first time in over a decade, but will also include handicap-accessible facilities throughout the first floor in order to help us care for the sick and elderly members of our community. We are also actively working on developing further plans for the expansion of the monastery, including workshops, guest housing, office and meeting spaces, and other necessary structures. We will be sure to keep everyone up to date with our plans and progress.
As always, none of this would be possible without the prayers and generous financial support of our pilgrims and benefactors. Though by God’s grace, our industries allow the brotherhood to be self-sufficient for our own daily living expenses, we are not be able to continue the expansion of the monastery without your help. As Orthodoxy in America continues to experience the most extraordinary surge in interest and growth in our lifetimes, it is more necessary than ever that we do everything in our power to meet the ever-growing thirst for the monastic life in Christ among the faithful of our land. Please continue to pray that God will bless and prosper our labors here. We thank all of you deeply for your continued support.
