Ice Storm Update 3/1/21

UPDATE 3/2 noon: we continue to experience periodic power outages as regional repairs continue to be made.

Glory to God, the monastery finally had its power restored this past weekend after an outage of nearly two weeks following the severe ice storm of Feb 15th. However, phones and internet service are still down and the divine services are therefore unable to be live-streamed. Business operations have resumed, but we are severely backlogged and stock levels are sorely depleted since production was largely halted during the two weeks of the power outage.

We are now beginning the work of rebuilding and repairing the extensive damage caused by the ice storm. This has been greatly aided by the overwhelming outpouring of support from people across the country and even across the world, which has greatly humbled us and for which we are extraordinarily grateful. May God richly reward all the hundreds of people who have stepped forward to help us in our time of need!

Above all, we are grateful for everyone's prayers. Please continue to pray for us, and be assured of our unworthy prayers for you. Further updates as we are able.

We regret to report that construction on the new church has been brought to a halt. In mid-July, we discovered that our general contractor had not been paying his subcontractors. After attempts to resolve the issues in good faith failed, we reluctantly decided to terminate the contract. We have retained legal counsel and are currently in the process of identifying and paying all debts owed to subcontractors and suppliers. This is a necessary step to move forward. We are also searching for a new general contractor to take over the job.
