During Holy Week, not one but two serious landslides developed on the Hermitage property: one immediately underneath the guesthouse, and another on the main road across from St. John's House. This latter slide threatens not only the entrance road itself, but also all of the monastery utility lines. The diameter of this slide is approximately 180 feet.

The floor has been poured for the new St. Herman's Building and construction progress will be much more rapid going forward, with the interior walls scheduled to go up next week. Additionally, the main entrance road has been shut down to allow for repairs and improvements, with the new gas and water line installation scheduled to begin next week.

In preparation for our 30th Anniversary Pilgrimage Weekend and the blessing of a new monument for our founder Fr. Kallistos, we are renovating the area surrounding the monastic cemetery and outdoor chapel.

On July 13, the Synaxis of the Holy Apostles, excavation began at the work site of the new multipurpose building.

This summer we are undertaking the construction of a much-needed work building. Most importantly, this building will include a candle workshop to replace the one destroyed in the convent fire of the summer of 2013. Additionally, it will house a commercial bakery, a centralized tool room, and a meeting room for the large monastic brotherhood. We are also bringing natural gas and water utility lines up our main entrance road.
