Monastery News
Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral in Chicago will be hosting its 3rd annual day retreat led by the monks of Holy Cross Monastery. If you are in the area, we warmly invite you to join us for an illuminating day of fellowship and building up one another in the Faith!
With God’s help, we have made substantial progress this year towards finally completing the new church. The most exciting news is that we officially moved into the new kitchen and trapeza during the final week of Great Lent.
With great sadness but also with joyful faith in the Resurrection of our Lord, we announce the repose of our beloved father in Christ, Schema-Archimandrite Panteleimon (Voepel). He fell asleep in the Lord early this morning, April 24th, just before 3am. He died peacefully at home, in the kellia where he has welcomed monks, clergy, and pilgrims for many years, surrounded by his devoted spiritual children. As he was nearing the end, his cell attendant read the Canon for the Departure of the Soul, and at the conclusion of the final prayer, Fr. Panteleimon quietly gave his soul back into God's hands.
